Christmas Red Lipsticks

Two years ago I started to wear Red Lipstick on a daily basis for work. If I have to be honest, in the past, I used to hate how it looked on me. I was that kind of girl that swore by smoky eyes and nude lips. Now, I can't live without a touch of colour that instantly gives life to my pale complexion. It's very chic and sophisticated and a must for Christmas.
In my makeup collection I have almost 20 red hues of lip products from different brands (M.A.C., NARS, YSL, CHANEL...), but these Kate Moss x Rimmel London lipsticks are the ones that I use the most. They are amazingly long wearing, if you add several layers, and their velvety finish don't dry out your lips like the others completely matte ones that I have. The colour payoff is amazing, very pigmented and opaque for only 5€. If you are on a budget or you simply don't want to spend a lot in a lip product these lipsticks are a fantastic choice.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss (111)

This creamy matte shade is very comfortable to wear. It's a true red, classic and bright that adds a pop of colour to your face.
The first time that I used it, I only applied one coat and after 5 hours my lips looked like I have done some sort of ombré lip art. On the center of my lips the colour had faded and on the top it was intact. The effect was as if I had only applied lip liner and blended towards the center of my lips. One day I layered three coats of lipstick and the problem was sorted, the colour stayed beautifully throughout the day with only one retouch in the afternoon.

This shade is now a staple in my lipstick collection, a flattering red perfect to wear during Christmas.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick x Kate Moss (107)

This stunning colour is darker, more sultry and intense. It's a berry red with more cool undertones than the 111 that has more orange bright ones. The pigmentation is spectacular and the texture is surprisingly creamy for a matte lipstick. This kind of wine shades can be a little bit intimidating to wear if you have a minimalistic style in makeup, but I assure you that this is one of the most flattering  reddish-Bordeaux shades that you can possibly wear.

Jo Malone English Oak & Redcurrant

Jo Malone Fragrances are very special because they smell like feelings and sensations. Whilst other perfumes can have very complex associations of notes, these fragrances with their minimalistic blends are not too heavy and let you appreciate their own unique character. In my perfume collection I already have from this brand, English Pear & Freesia and Blackberry & Bay, you will guess, I have a kind of floral-fruity taste, but for this Autumn I wanted something different...

I discovered this novelty called English Oak & Redcurrant and I was amazed, it was exactly what I was looking for.
English Oak is an iconic noble wood of England. Think of all this magic imagery of Robin Hood, Sherwood Forest, druids... The famous King Arthur's round table was made with English Oak as well as all the greatest ships of the Maritime History of England that sailed around the world.

This fragrance is Autumn in a bottle, it smells like you have been playing into the woods all day rolling yourself on the fallen leaves. It's earthy and woody, but juicy and tangy at the same time. It's the most masculine fragrance that I own and I am really happy that I decided to buy it. The top note is Redcurrant that adds a sparkling acid tart contrast to the woody and warm base note of roasted oak. The heart note is rose, a classic floral and fresh touch to this beautiful creation of Yann Vasnier.

If you want to smell like an enchanted mossy forest try this bewitching new fragrance from Jo Malone London, one of the most interesting discoveries of this season.

Fall Makeup Staples

During the Fall season I tend to change the way I do my makeup. What I like the most is to use darker colours of lipsticks, a berry pout is my go to when I want a touch of glam. To start with this makeup look, I like to use a good foundation. After the summer, my skin needs more that ever foundation. The healthy glowy colour has gone and a good coverage is very welcomed. Luckily Charlotte Tilbury has created a magic concoction (Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation) that includes mushroom extract, hyaluronic filling spheres and Vitamin C. The finish is velvety, not glowy nor completely matte. It stays pretty well throughout the day and the best thing is that it covers everything with its intelligent formula that dispenses evenly on the skin, but does not sit in imperfections. You can't get rid of all your blemishes and dark spots but at least, you can cover them. Bye uneven tone, hello beautiful skin!

After I have achieved the perfect canvas to start with I apply By Terry Densiliss Concealer, the only one that doesn't dry my eye area and doesn't crease. I add a puff of Paris Berlin Loose Powder to set it all. Then, I warm up my skin with my favorite bronzer that smells like chocolate (Too Faced Chocolat Soleil), paired with a muted tone blush of my collection like (Milani Powder Blush 01 Romantic Rose)

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette create this "Let there be light" moment with its photoluminescence technology. The three shades can be used separately or layered for a multidimensional glow. I apply the shade Dim Light where I have more imperfections, like the dark circles under my eyes. It has peach undertones so it's perfect to blur these blue/grey discolorations. The middle one, Incandescent Strobe Light, goes right on my cheek bones, arches of my brows, cupid's bow...where I want to brighten up my skin with this opalescent glow. I finally apply Radiant Light to enhance my bronzer, because the one that I use from Too Faced has a completely matte finish.

NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in the shade Desdemona is probably my favourite one of my entire collection. Why? Because the colour is BEAU-TI-FUL!!
A warm plum with a frosted finish. It has a luxurious texture that can be applied dry or wet, depending of the intensity that you prefer. If you want mesmerizing eyes it´s easy. Apply this shade all oyer the eyelid and draw a feline flick with M.A.C. Prunella Eye liner.

I saved the best for last, lipsticks! I find it so sophisticated and vampy to wear shades of dark berry on the lips. It´s a statement colour, not for everybody, but really glamorous. My two favourites are Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry and M.A.C. Cosmetics Fashion Revival paired with Vino Lip Pencil by M.A.C.  For an event or a night out I wear Glastonberry and for a more casual occasion or during the day I prefer Fashion Revival that is lighter. Both of them have a matte finish and are very longlasting. You can eat your Thanksgiving feast and a stain will remain on your lips!

Do you also change the colours of your makeup depending on the season?

Autumn Candles

I truly love Autumn... For me, it's the season of change and a preparation for the challenges of the new year before the crazy period of festivities. As William Cullen Bryant said, "Autumn, the year's last loveliest smile". A time for reflection where the bursting colours of the fallen leaves make me appreciate the beauty of this world. The fresh air, the humid and earthy smell and the cozy nights at home really inspire me to do more things like cooking or writing and the best way to stimulate me in this creative process is to be surrounded by an olfactory atmosphere.

Byredo Bibliothèque

This candle transports me to an old and beautiful library.
When I was a student in Paris I used to go to the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève. When I first entered, I was amazed, I felt like I was in a Harry Potter film. The darkness, the silence and its particular smell, a blend of humidity, dust, wood, paper, leather and wax for furniture.
I always studied in this library or Cujas that it's on the same Pantheon Square, it was one of the loveliest moments of my life, the period when I met the man of my life, my actual boyfriend.
Byredo has make me travel in time with this candle. I always feel very nostalgic when it's burning, not in a sad way but in a very comforting manner.
Presented in an elegant and graphic design the notes of peach, plum, peony, violet, leather, patchouli and vanilla of this candle create an unexpected fragrance, complex and intellectual.

Diptyque Noisetier

I'm obsessed with Diptyque candles and I cannot lie. In fact, if one day my house transforms into the display of one of Diptyque's shops that will be the happiest day of my life!
For this time of the year I personally love Coing and Noisetier and if I have to choose between one of  them it will be without no doubt Noisetier. I don't know why but, this fragrance takes me back to my childhood, maybe because of the countless Nutella toasts that I had after school. Yummy!
This scented candle is the sweet version of Autumn. The seasonal hazel is paired with more woody and earthy notes revealing the most beautiful fragrance that makes me think of cozy nights at home baking and wearing big jumpers and socks while it's starting to get chilly. You can feel the scent of earth and dead leaves that comes from the outside. A delightful tangy, sweet, woody and bitter scent.

30 Avenue Montaigne, Christian Dior

This home candle represents the most sophisticated side of Paris, the Avenue Montaigne. A tribute to the iconic first address of this fashion institution. Adorned in the Neoclassical Louis VI style, cherished by Monsieur Dior, this townhouse was the perfect setting to present his creations and the revolutionary "New Look" style in the late 40's of the past century.
I received this candle as a gift and the first time that I smelled it I found that it was quite masculine and strong, but when I lit it, I felt that it was the most elegant luxurious fragrance that I have ever sniffed. It's a very intense combination with notes of cardamom, star anise, licorice, white amber, vanilla and incense. A warm, enveloping and spicy scent for the colder evenings of Autumn.

Anti-Pollution Skincare

In Big Cities pollution is undeniable, it's sad to think that every day we are living and breathing in a contaminated environment that is harmful not only for our skin that suffers, but most importantly for our health. My ideal life will be in a small city in the countryside or near the sea, but until my dream come true and I have the courage to make it happen I try, as much as I can, to lessen the effects of this nasty particles suspended in the air, water etc.

So, as it is starting to become a big issue, cosmetics companies have started their scientific research in order to find formulas that prevent skin ageing from air pollution.

Elisabeth Arden Prevage City Smart SPF 50

This hydrating shield protects the skin from UV rays, pollution and aging whilst delivering the most natural luminosity.
Applying SPF every single day is a must for me. One of my friend's mum has the most incredible skin at the age of 64 and she swears by SPF applied on a daily basis, the highest, even if it's cloudy. For years the damages that the direct exposure to the sun can cause to your skin have been proven, but what about the new enemy? Pollution...Well this product creates an invisible barrier to prevent the penetration of harmful toxins. Indeed air pollution causes premature ageing and the appearance of pigment age spots.
A year ago a big dark spot popped out from nowhere on my right cheek, next to my scalp and I immediately knew that it couldn't be caused by the sun as I apply religiously my SPF every single day. The exact moment I realized that I freaked out and begun to make some changes in my skincare routine.
This product is a good base to face the urban air with its anti-oxidant formula that supports the skin's natural barrier to fight against the penetration of tiny particles of nitrogen dioxide and other chemicals.

OSKIA City Life Cleansing Concentrate

Cleansing your complexion is absolutely necessary to remove all the nasty particles that your skin has accumulated throughout the day. At night it's very important to take off your makeup, sweat but also the film of pollutants. The microscopic contaminants of air pollution are smaller than your pores and they create free radicals breaking collagen and the lipid protective barrier that ensures hydration and elasticity.
I love this Cleansing Concentrate because only 2 drops are necessary to refresh and clean your face. The blend of ingredients is incredible to smell. I personally love the eucalyptus oil that instantly relaxes me. This beautifully packaged product does everything that an environmentally stressed complexion needs. It calms irritated skin, gently exfoliates, detoxifies and has a potent cocktail full of vitamins. These last ones, vitamins A, C and E, also known as antioxidants are essential to neutralise the damages.

Caudalie Overnight Detox Oil

This night oil is fantastic, my skin looks fresh, hydrated, distressed and repaired the morning after the application. Its formula is 100% natural, a blend of 5 essential oils and 3 plant oils (grape seed, sweet almond, bitter orange, carrot, sandalwood, sunflower, lavender and rosemary). The key ingredient is Resveratrol a potent antioxidant found in grape seed oil. This polyphenol acts as a protector of your skin barrier and has also the ability to reject the negative environmental toxins. Resveratrol activates cell renewal to minimise the undesirable ageing effects.

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask

If this product has won the Elle International Beauty Award in 2015 it's for a good reason...It does exactly what it says on the packaging, purifies stressed city dwelling skin, treating all forms of radical damage.
What I truly love about this mask is that it's formulated with 99,3% of natural ingredients. The main one is french pink clay, a compound of minerals that has the ability to absorb efficiently all the impurities locked on the pores of the skin like dirt, oil and also tiny particles of air pollution. While pink clay eliminates daily grime and toxins it also polishes your face, tightens your pores for a smooth baby soft complexion. I use it twice a month, because I also apply other masks in between.
After I have removed my makeup and washed my face, I put it all over my complexion and let it dry. I take it off after 15 to 20 min with warm water. This type of clay is suitable for any skin type, even for sensitive or mature skin as it acts as a natural exfoliator avoiding the irritation caused by friction or chemical ingredients.

And you, how do you deal with air pollution? Do you have a specific routine or use any useful product?

Unicorn Beauty

The Beauty Community is my particular wonderland where I feel myself. It's this magic space on the internet where I'm free and happy, where I find amusement and creativity. In other words, here I forget about everything that causes me anxiety: health, tragedies, career, money, social conventions...
When I plan for the next post that I'm going to write on my blog or I'm feeling inspired by something, suddenly my life becomes more interesting and fun, I feel like an unicorn! With everything that it's going on in the world, I just want to enjoy the moment and appreciate every detail that can make my life a little more exciting.

Glam Glow Gravitymud Firming Treatment

This mask that smells like coconut is freaking amazing! I can't help myself but laugh when I see my face in the mirror with this futuristic silver mask. In the jar it's pearlescent white, but when you apply it and let it dry the colour changes.
I love the fact that it comes with a little flat brush for an effortless, more precise and hygienic application.
It's a peel off formula when it dries that tightens your pores and make your complexion brighter.
I recommend you to apply a very thick layer, so it will be easier to remove it. If you still have some leftovers you can take them off with warm water and a towel.
It's a fantastic pre-makeup treatment for a more plumped and luminous skin.

Lush Daddy O Shampoo

I'm really into purple and blue shampoos at the moment, as my hair tend to be very brassy after the Summer. These pigments are your best friends when you have grey, platinum and blonde hair, because they erase the yellow and orange tones. I have tried so many and what a discovery I made when I found this one!
First of all, the scent! Oh! It's out of this world...This shampoo smells like fresh violets with a hint of lemon and with a sweet base note that lasts...dreamy! My boyfriend is an absolute fan, and he has brown hair.
In the shower you will feel like a fairy, a siren an unicorn or whatever mythical creature you want to be with its magical purple foam that instantly puts you in a good mood.

Fenty Beauty Match Stix in Confetti

If you didn't know yet, Rihanna launched in September a new brand called Fenty Beauty.
From all the products of the range, the most appealing for me is the Match Sticks. I like how versatile they are. You can use them to contour, to add a pop of blush, to highlight, even as an eye shadow. It's quick and easy to apply them. You can use your fingers and dab little quantities and progressively build up the colour until you are satisfied with the result.
I initially picked the Match Stix in the shade Unicorn, but I quickly changed my mind and chose instead Confetti. For me it is more fun and less purple. Sometimes I rave about a product highly pigmented, this time I wanted something sheer. I love to put this stick with a minimal makeup on the top of the cheeks and on my eyelids. The shade is a lavender colour almost holographic with a hint of blue glitter. A very unique product when you want an ethereal makeup look.

Kiehl's Haul

It's incredible the fact that since a few months ago I had never tried any of the Kiehl's products and I wonder why...

One day, I found in my makeup bag a sample of the Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate and the morning after I applied it I couldn't believe how good my skin looked. I ran into the closest shop from my workplace and bought, despite the price tag, a bottle of this marvelous serum. This was the beginning of my multiple visits to the store and in this post I'm going to present to you my new impressive discoveries of this well established New Yorker brand.

Crème de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Whipped Body Butter

This is the most edible like body butter that I have ever tried. I'm literally tempted to lick the jar. It smells beautiful, sweet and indulgent but not too heavy or too much, just delicious. The texture is decadently air-whipped to stimulate your senses. Enriched with Shea Butter, Vegetarian Squalane and Jojoba Oil for a nourished, protected and restored skin. The formula doesn't leave too much residue, so you can get dressed quickly and the scent will last many hours after the application. Love, love, love.

Rosa Artica Lightweight Cream

I think this is the best daily anti-aging moisturizer that I have ever tried. The texture is perfect, creamy but blends very well on the skin and it also gives all the hydratation that I need throughout the day. The scent is very botanical and pleasant. The key ingredient of this cream is Rosa Artica, also known in Latin as Haberlea Rhodopensis, a resurrection species known for its extreme resistance to desiccation, able to survive 31 months in a dry-out circle by failing into anabiosis. When this plant has the moisture that it requires it becomes to life within hours. The molecules of Rosa Artica stimulates antioxidant skin defenses. The result, a more elastic, nourished and radiant skin.

Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

The driest and most damaged part of my face is the thin layer of skin around my eyes. It is dry and changes dramatically bad when I'm tired or in a bad period. I have some fine lines, blame my constant smiling face, that tend to be erased when the skin is properly nourished. The consistency of this cream, that contains avocado oil, beta-carotene and shea butter, is thick and superb, as it doesn't migrate into the eyes.

Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil

One of my favorite parts of my beauty routine is taking the day off. Having a shower, removing my makeup and wash my face. The contact with warm water instantly relaxes me after a long day at work. This product is an oil that removes well any residue of makeup after my micellar water. I put it directly to my dry face and massage it. Then I add little droplets of water and emulsify the formula that becomes milky. I finish by rinsing well with water. This cleanser is very unique by its soothing blend of essential oils, squalane (plant-derived lipid) and evening primrose oil (rich in Omega 3 and fatty acids).

Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate

What can I say about this night serum...It is absolutely amazing how unbelievable well you look the morning after you apply it. Enriched with 10,5% of pure vitamin C, it helps your skin to minimize fine lines whilst it brightens your complexion reducing the hyperpigmentation of brown spots.

Vitamin C :The Edit

I´m very curious and I have always been interested in skincare. Sometimes I like to experiment and apply only some boosters. Today I´m going to focus on the use of Vitamin C applied topically on the skin.

The most commonly known form of this vitamin is L-Ascorbic Acid, but also Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate. The list of benefits for your skin is kind of amazing:

Antioxidant

Vitamin C acts as a shield against free radicals like pollution and sun damage that cause oxidative stress to the skin.

Stimulates Collagen Production

A very effective anti-aging ingredient that is responsible of the creation of collagen, a protein that helps body tissue to withstand stretches. That means more elasticity and strength and less wrinkles.

Reduces Dark Spots

Vitamin C also helps to even out skin tone reducing the dark spots produced by sun damage, acne scaring, age or genetic factors.

Brightens the Complexion

One of the best results that you can get when using regularly Vitamin C is a radiant glowy, healthy looking skin. And who doesn´t want that?

Also, I would like to warn you about the fact that when I applied Vitamin C for the first time it irritated my skin. The reason why this happened is because many products that have at least 10% of Vitamin C and a low PH in order to be effective can be very itchy and may cause a little hot sensation. If your skin is not very sensitive you can go on and try to apply it gradually, first adding and mixing small quantities to your regular moisturizer, then on its own when you will give time to your skin to adjust. Avoid the application after a harsh exfoliation, chemical peel or microdermoabrasion.

Another important point to mention is the difficulty to stabilize Vitamin C, which means that its effectiveness will be depleted if the formula is exposed during long periods of time to air and light.

Potent Anti-Ageing Vitamin C

Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate by Kielh's

This product is magical! One of the rare serums that really does something to your face. The first applications you will notice a little itchy sensation that transforms your face into a beautiful goddess skin like the morning after. You wake up with a fresh and glowy skin. The texture is white and very creamy and it blends well on the skin. It contains 10,5 of pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles whilst minimizes your pores. A game changer in my skincare routine.

Vitamin C Exfoliating and Brightening Mask

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment

This mask is a indulgent way to incorporate vitamin C progressively. I tend to do it while I'm taking a bubble bath on Sundays. It is highly charged in brightening ingredients, so this product will be the right one for you if you are targeting dark spots, redness, even dark circles. The key ingredients are White Birch Leaf that delivers natural Betulin and Betulinic Acid which have anti-inflammatory anti-bacterial and regenerating properties. Extracted from the bark of the white birch tree, this substance protects the trees from UV radiation, extreme temperatures and pest infestations. Others actives like Ellagic acid, a polyphenol found in fruits like raspberries and pomegranates, have a brightening effect on your skin. A great way to change your classic exfoliation when you need an extra bright finish to correct any discoloration or hyperpigmentation. Leave it for 20 minutes and apply sunscreen the day after.

Lightweight Affordable Moisturizer with Vitamin C

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturizer

This product is great for beginners in skincare and also if don't want to spend a lot of money. Even though it's not so expensive, I have to say that it is truly effective for the radiance. The explanatory leaflet says that you have to avoid the eye area and it's no joke. I have experienced myself the sensation of this cream around my eyes and it isn't pleasant. In my case, this cream isn't sufficiently moisturizing or nourishing as I've developed with the age a change in my skincare type from combination to dry. When I use this cream I layer another serum or products that has a richer formula. This lightweight moisturizer gel will be a good boost of vitamin C for dull combination to oily skin types.

Caudalie Glycolic Peel Mask

I need to do a peel every once in a while to remove dead skin cells and to reveal a luminous polished complexion.I discovered this product by a sample that was offered to me. The morning after I used for the first time I was astonished with the results.

This mask is a chemical peel that means that you don't have to rub tiny particles onto your skin or use a special tool (physical exfoliant). Glycolic Acid belongs to the a-hydroxyd acid family, also known as AHA. It is very gentle and doesn't irritate at all my face, even if I leave it more than the recommended 10 minutes.
Formulated with 85,7% natural origin ingredients, it contains Viniferine, the grapevine sap. An efficient natural molecule that improves skin condition diminishing the appearance of dark spots and helps to clarify the complexion. It also has a natural ingredient, Papaya Enzymes that act as a non irritating exfoliant removing proteins on the skin such as dead cells and scar tissue that is still trapped in the pores.
The application is very easy, after removing your makeup and washing your face spread a thick layer on your face, but not very close to the eye area. Leave it for 10 minutes and then remove it with water. A milky formula appears and after rinsing it your face will be radiant and smoother. Instead of having a very dry feel or a harsh finish, like many of other similar products that I've tried, this one leaves my skin very soft, glowy and comfortable.

Caudalie Glycolic Peel Mask is an at home facial essential when I want a very gentle exfoliation, its scent is marvelous. A spa treatment to relax and take some time for yourself.

Sleep Tight with Lavender

Lately I'm struggling a lot to get some sleep. I don´t know if it´s the heat or the light of these Summer evenings or just that I´m burnout and I need some days off.
When I don´t rest properly I become a horrible person, very negative and in a bad mood. The remedy, not magic but helpful, is aromatherapy and aromachology. This last science, also known as the psychology of aromas is very interesting. Through scent, we can directly reach the limbic system of the brain where memory, basic instincts and smell are located. Scents can affect our autonomic nervous system in actions like breathing, heart beating...
Lavender scent is known for its calming properties of reducing stress and anxiety. Trust me, I was very skeptical, but I have experienced that active scents of essential oils help me, in a very subconscious way, to find a balance and forget about the daily stress that we create by having this modern urban lifestyle.
These are some products that make me feel relaxed and set the perfect mood for a good night of sleep.

Lush Sleepy Body Lotion

I love this lotion to wind down because it has the dreamiest scent, really! It´s very sweet and malty, a great combination of lavender, tonka absolute, ylang ylang oil and oatmeal infusion. This incredible cream will wrap you in a heavenly peaceful mood before going to bed. Suitable for all skin types, specially normal to dry.

Dr Bronner's 18-in-one Hemp Lavender Castile Soap

This natural soap is very versatile. It is supposed to be multipurpose for your hair, body, face, but also an organic pet, dish and laundry washer. I honestly think that in my case, it is only suitable for my body as the other parts are very dry and need more specific products. The formula is just great, because it's very concentrated and last ages. You can use just a few drops on a sponge or dilute it. Made with organic and certified fair trade ingredients it doesn't contain synthetic preservatives, detergents or foaming agents. It has essential oils of lavender and lavandin, a very pleasant scent for a bath or shower in the evening. After a long day, this soothing natural soap is just the only think that I want to use to let go and spend a calming night.

Dr Bronner's Lavender and Coconut Organic Hand and Body Lotion

This lotion has a fantastic scent, the blend of coconut and lavender is wonderful. It absorbs very very quickly without any greasy finish on the body. I love this one, because I'm very lazy to apply moisturizers on my body, I don't have the patience after the shower to wait until I can get dressed. This calming body lotion makes this tedious, but necessary  step much more easy.

L'Occitane Relaxing Pillow Mist

I can't live without this!  Before going to bed I spray it on my pillow, on me and even all over the entire bedroom. This 100% natural scent contains essential oils of lavender, bergamot, mandarin, sweet orange and geranium. This mist will help you to relax creating the perfect atmosphere to sleep.

Sephora Lavender Foot Mask

I love a good mask and I can not lie! My feet are a total mess, they suffer a lot and I don't take as much care of them as I should. This mask is a genius idea, two socks soaked in a nourishing formula to repair one of the driest parts of my body. The best ally for cracked and tired feet that need an extra comfort.

3 Books to Read This Summer

Summer is one of my favorites seasons to read. I have more time to do it and I really enjoy to go out to a park in the city, to a beautiful beach or to the countryside and immerse myself in a fascinating story that completely captivates me. For my upcoming vacations that will be in August, this are the three books that I picked.

Into The Water by Paula Hawkins

I loved her first thriller The Girl on The Train. I remember to cross at the zebra crossings without paying attention and reading the book, because I couldn't take my eyes off the pages. The way she writes is addictive: the mystery, the characters, the way every detail is described...I expect of this book to be a rejoice of propulsive writing as her first novel was.
The story of this book takes place in a small-town. A mother is discovered dead at the bottom of the river. Now, her sister Jules has to take care of the teenage girl she has left behind. Jules is afraid to return to this place she taught she had escaped for good, the old Mill House. She is also afraid of the water, her past memories and a place they call the Drowning Pool...

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

The way Elizabeth Gilbert writes is very colloquial, she has an endearing prose, like you are talking to your best friend. I had a great time going throw all the pages of Eat, Pray, Love, a story based on her personal life. Each line, paragraph, made me think that Elizabeth Gilbert is a very likable writer as she narrates with intelligence, sense of humor and talent. This book is like a gift for all her devotees, as she shares her personal advice on how to improve your creative side. Based on her own experiences and her entourage, she will prove the power of ideas in life and how to avoid the fear when trying to be creative. I can't wait to read this book, because I desperately need some tips and tricks on following my dreams with my feet firmly on the ground.

The Girls by Emma Cline

I'm very interested in reading this book. Inspired by the Manson Family commune that arose in California in the late 60s, this is a story that explores the anxieties of teen girls and the dark side of craving acceptance. Evie Boyd, a lonely teen girl meets a group of girls that she idealizes by their freedom, careless dress and dangerous aura of abandon. She will be drowned in a cult move that will turn to unthinkable violence.
This is the debut novel of Emma Cline, a feminist, melancholic, and I also hope, compelling narrative.

Face Mists and Setting Sprays

The heat is hitting hard these days and there is nothing more pleasant than spraying a good product on your face to feel fresh and superb, it is so nice to feel the tiny drops of mist on your face...I find it very soothing and relaxing. Some of them add radiance and blend, in a perfect way, your makeup making all come together and avoiding the dreaded cakey finish. These are one of my favourites.

Pai Skincare Lotus and Orange Blossom BioAffinity Skin Tonic

This vitamin rich formula hydrates and revitalises dry skin, I use it during my skincare routine as a toner, but it is not drying at all because this mist doesn't contain alcohols or synthetic ingredients. If you have very sensitive skin, this was made for you. Created to match exactly the ph of healthy skin, it instantly calms the redness on your face. Its cocktail of ingredients: vitamins, minerals and amino acids extracted from plants help to protect the skin against free-radical damage (Lotus Root Living Water) and stimulate skin cell regeneration (Neroli).  The result, a toned and brightened complexion. It can be used as a toner after cleaning your face to facilitate the absorption of further skincare treatments, to set your makeup or throughout the day.

Avène Eau Thermale

One summer day when I was nearly 16 and unconscious, I had a terrible sunburnt that hurt as hell. I was red and suffering in one of my friend's house and she brought me into her mum's bathroom to see if we could find something for me. I instinctively took the Avène Eau Thermale Spray. I thought that it would be nice to have something fresh to calm my skin. It was incredible, my skin immediately felt much better. Today my love for this miracle mist hasn't faded and I like to use it after a harsh peeling, sunburn, hair removal, shaving... I have also heard that it is great after surgery, if your skin feels like shit after a chemo and even for the common diaper rash on baby's skin. It is useful when your skin is very irritated and for any occasion like refreshing yourself during a heatwave, a trip or following exercise. This is a must-have!

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist

This product is instant glow in a bottle. A beautiful spray that is the most moisturizing and anti-aging of my collection. This magic mist will transform a dull complexion in a gorgeous Goddess-like skin. A milky emulsion that is full of humectants and moisturizers to rehydrate the skin, perfect for dry and combination skin types. Its blend of ingredients include Squalene (from Olive Oil), Red Algae and an exclusive anti-aging complex called HADASEI-3™.I love to use this as the last step of my makeup, to have a glorious luminous finish that will draw the attention. If you want a fresh, dewy and youthful skin, this product will not disappoint you. As it is very humectant, it's a great idea to put in inside your handbag during long distance airplane travels. Flying at high altitudes can steal your glow as the blood flow less to the skin. Also the dryness of the processed air, 20% of humidity, can seriously dry out your skin.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist

Vitamin E, also known as Tocopherol is a nutrient and a potent antioxidant that helps to neutralize free radicals protecting the skin against environmental pollution. It is a classic ingredient used for many years in skincare products that has amazing properties: protection against UV radiation, moisturizer, prevent premature aging and wound healing. When combined with other antioxidants like vitamin C the beneficial effects on the skin increase. This face mist is also enriched with rosewater and wheat germ oil to create the perfect pick-me up combo, an instant hydratation booster that also does wonders, not only on its own, as a skincare product, but also as a final touch after you have done your makeup. It blends everything evenly revealing a fresh, moisturized and dewy skin.

Bioderma Hidrabio  Eau de Soin Moisturizing Anti-UV Mist SPF 30

There are no excuses for forgetting the fundamental step of applying SPF on a daily basis. This face mist can be sprayed wherever you are without having the need to touch your face. A perfect companion during summertime to renew the SPF application throughout the day. I love to use this mist the days when I'm not wearing makeup, as it leaves a tiny bit almost unnoticeable, white residue of sunscreen after doing your makeup. When you are outdoors and the sun is shining this is your skin's best friend. I use it when I'm doing any kind of sport outside, sunbathing, trekking, having a picnic or enjoying a sunny day sitting on a terrace. This stuff will be ideal for people who hate or are lazy to massage a cream with SPF.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

This one was made for party girls and to prevent meltdowns of makeup during the summer season. If you have an event, live in a humid climate or you just want to keep your makeup in place for more than 14 hours (working/busy gals), this refreshing mist is all that you need. It's like a protective shield for your makeup, I don't use it every single day, but only when I do a full face dramatic or glamorous makeup. It holds all the pigments of your together. In fact, if you spray a tiny bit on a eye shadow brush it will make the colours last longer and the pigments will be more intense on the eyelids. As it contains alcohol, it is maybe not suitable for very sensitive or dry skin types. It has a Temperature Control Technology that changes to keep your makeup in place whatever the external conditions are (hot, humid, cold and windy). My verdict: the perfect ally during summertime that will avoid your makeup to crease and fade.

Origins A Perfect World

The world is not perfect, nobody is perfect, neither do I.
When I think about it, the truth is that all my frustrations begin with this sentiment of not being impeccable or able to excel in everything.
My skin is the external reflection of who I am, a compilation of moments in life of happiness, fun, daydream, pleasure, but also stress, sadness and deception. When I was a teenager I exposed my skin during hours and hours directly to the sun, I drunk and smoked too much and above all, I wasn´t kind with myself. Today, I try to love and respect my body more and more.
The world that we live today is crazy, every year it is hotter and hotter. In the big cities, we  are exposed to a very polluted environment, so our health and externally our skin suffer.
Origins with its new line " A Perfect World" come to rescue with youth-protecting products infused with antioxidant-rich White Tea to fight against free radical damage and prevent premature signs of aging.

SPF 40 Age-Defense Moisturizer with White Tea

The secret to have a long term youthful skin is to apply SPF on a daily basis. I love this moisturizer because it has a high level of SPF that surrounds the skin in a protective bubble against UV rays. Its active ingredients, natural-barrier boosters, Edelweiss and White Birch help to strengthen skin's barrier to neutralized the damaging effects of pollution, infrared rays, ozone and other environmental aggressors. The consistency of the formula is very thick, so you have to apply tiny dots of the product and massage them gently until it absorbs. You need the tiniest amount, because this cream moisturizer is very rich. Maybe if you have oily skin you will find that this is too much for you and it's true that the firsts minutes after the application you feel oily, but trust me, it absorbs well during the day and I had any breakouts but only a radiant skin after a month using this every single morning.

Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea

My favourite step in my skincare routine is to wash my face. It is more than cleaning your face, removing any rest of makeup or dirt it's like a therapy, a very relaxing moment where you are in contact with water and you take the day off your face.

This foamy cleanser that has a pearlescent colour is enriched with White Tea. This ingredient is packed with polyphenols a very potent antioxidant that helps protecting the skin from damaging free radicals. The tiny tea buds of White Tea were prized by Chinese Emperors. They thought that it was an elixir of longevity and it is true, because the silver tips are very rich in antioxidants. In a recent study made by Origins that simulated ground level of ozone pollution the formula of "A Perfect World" showed a 76% reduction in skin-aging environmental damage.
This cleanser also contains minerals to grab the dirt and Palm, Coconut and Oat Amino Acids to clean and detoxify the skin removing all the impurities that cause oxidation, deterioration and dehydration. Don't neglect this step, because a clean skin is very important to prevent premature aging.
I like this cleanser, because it leaves my skin with a great sensation of freshness and cleanliness.

Age Defense Treatment with White Tea

I was a bit skeptical about this product, when I first saw it, because even though I love beauty products I´m lazy AF and adding layers or many products to my skincare routine just annoys me. I don´t even remember the last time I used a toner, but I reckon that it is a very important step. I´m improving my habits and I´m more aware today of the difference that it makes to put on a serum before a moisturizer and a specific cream for the delicate eye area. I have improved a lot since I was 18 years old when I even went to sleep with my makeup on...How awful!
This oil and alcohol free treatment has become an essential for me, after using it during only two weeks I noticed that my complexion was smoother, more soft and supple. It is great to prep your skin for the products that you will apply after. Plus, it doesn´t dry or tight.

I´m more than satisfied with this new White Tea line by Origins: Using this three products in conjunction every single morning has cleared out my skin and improved its texture, looking more radiant and hydrated.

Saviour Products for Dry Hair

The relationship between my hair and me is complicated...Actually, I used to hate it. It is frizzy not beautifully curly, not dreamy straight either, very dry and very dense. You would think that dense is great, but when I was a teenager, more insecure, I didn´t like my massive frizzy volume that seems almost fake, like I´m wearing a wig. After taking a shower and without any styling I look like the character Hermione in the film Harry Potter and The Philosopher´s stone.

Now with a little help of my GHD Ceramic Iron and these life changing products, I get the result that I need to feel confident.

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser´s Invisible Oil

This hair oil is the bomb!! It has a delicious scent of candy, but not very strong, only sweet, delicious and very addictive. It's like perfume for your hair whilst softens and protects your scalp. I've the driest hair that you can possibly imagine, it hardly ever becomes greasy and this extraordinary blend of oils allows me to tame and make shine my rebellious hair. I apply it on dry hair after straighten it and I can instantly feel that it's a very light oil that absorbs very well for a silky smooth finish. During several months I couldn't find it and I skipped this step on my routine, the aftermath, I've started to have more and more slipt-ends. My hair even started to break when I brushed it. So now, I've learned my lesson and I will take more care of it. This product is my little secret to make my hair grow strong and healthy.

L'Oréal Professionnel Absolut Repair Lipidium Shampoo and Masque

During several moths I wanted to save some money and I only bought Drugstore or Supermarket Shampoos and Conditioners.
It seems that my hair has a fancy taste and didn´t like at all the silicon that the cheaper products that I picked contained. My hair had a strange texture and was very dry, but at the same time and surprisingly oily due to all the residues of their formulas.
Last summer, I discovered the Absolut Repair Lipidium Shampoo and Masque and I was astonished. When I do a blow dry or I straighten my hair the style remains impeccable during 5 days. Also, its amazing complex enriched with lipidium, phyto-keratin, ceramids and lactic acid restores shine, nourishes and makes it stronger smoothing all the dryness and split ends. When I apply the masque after the shampoo I leave it more than 5 minutes, sometimes even 3 hours if I´m staying at home.
My hair has never been so healthy and beautiful, I´m an absolute fan of this line.

5 Reasons to visit Rome

When I was a kid I used to travel a lot with my parents. I even lived for long periods of three or more years in different countries like Belgium, Honduras, Morocco or the U.S.A.

When I was a student and during my early years of working life (as an intern) I had so little money that I couldn´t afford a trip. Now that my life has changed and improved since I moved to my hometown, I wanted to visit Rome with my savings.
I love to travel because, I come back to home with a completely different outlook, more inspired and enriched by the singularity of each place.

1. The Beauty of the City

Rome is beautiful. One of the most charming and fascinating cities in Europe. What I love about this place is that it is full of contrasts, it is the pillar of occidental culture, but at the same time it is chaotic and full of life. It was a pleasure to walk along the Tiber River, the tiny cobbled streets or to discover accidentally a masterpiece of art or architecture. It was really touching to see all these iconic places and to imagine what Rome was like at the time of its greatness, when it was the capital of knowledge, supremacy and progress.

2. History, Art & Architecture

You can find a piece of Art and History at any corner of this city. It blew my mind to see the perfection that they achieved millions of years ago in all the fields with less means. What I personally liked the best was the ruins of Circus Maximus, Forum Romanum and Palazzo Palatino. The city of Vatican and the Colosseo are a must-see, but they are full of tourists while the other places were more spacious and with less visitors. All the Museums in Rome are marvelous: Musei Vaticani e Cappella Sistina, Musei e Galleria Borghese, Palazzo Altemps...But my favorite was the Musei Capitolini, because it was very comfortable to visit, had the most magnificent sculptures that I have ever seen and there were just a very few people. As you can tell, I'm quite stressed with crowds...My most-loved church was Santa Maria in Trastevere with its mesmerizing mosaics. The fountains are everywhere, but the one that I highly recommend is the Fontana Dell'Acqua Paola, because it has a breathtaking view and again, there is barely nobody at this magnificent spot of tranquil crystalline water. A picturesque fountain that you will love to see.

3. The Freedom to Walk Easily

I love to stroll, see and discover things and Rome is a great city for pedestrians, even though you have to be careful because Romans drive like crazy people and the sidewalks and the priorities are not always very clear.
My absolutely most enjoying part of this trip was to explore hidden gems, peaceful tiny places of nature where you are almost alone and you can actually listen to the birds. Villa Sciarra is a gorgeous place, a secret park surrounded by cypresses that is located in a enchanting neighborhood. The Giardino Degli Aranci also worth the visit with its incredible view of the city and its beautiful Orange Trees. A very romantic lovely little spot not far from all the important ruins to visit. Last, but not least, the Orto Botanico in my cherished Trastevere, a lush blooming green place to find serenity.

4. The Food

The food, OMG, the food!I didn't stop eating during the entire trip and I'm not ashamed. The pasta, the pizza the gelato!!! Everything was delicious. If you are like me and you love very authentic places located in bohemian and eclectic districts, here are some recommendations for you.

Osteria numero 6, is the best home style italian food that I have ever tasted. You have to book a table first and ask to eat on the terrace, because that is the charming part of this place with its red checked tablecloths. The burrata with rocket was so fresh, the Melanzane Alla Parmigiana was so tasty and if this wasn't enough, my boyfriend ordered fresh pasta Alla Matriciana and pasta with Funghi Porcini e Tartuffo for me. For dessert, we had, of course, a homemade Tiramisu with the best foamy cappuccinos... We ate a lot, but we had a blast!
Grazie e Graziella is also a very good place to eat, with the best laid back atmosphere and a great ambiance at any time. In this restaurant I ate, for the first time, the Caccio e Peppe pasta. Cream, Pecorino Cheese and a lot of pepper, simple but delicious. My boyfriend had a huge plate of Spaghetti with Meatballs and he loved it! If you love vegetables like me, don't forget to try the artichokes.
Baffeto 2, is not very fancy but has a delicious Fiori di Zucca Pizza, made with zucchini flowers and lots of cheese, very special and yummy. The staff is very friendly and you can eat easily at any hour, late in the evening like 11:30 p.m. or at strange hours to have lunch, like we did at 5:30 p.m. A very convenient place to eat located in the central area of the city, near the lovely Campo dei Fiori.

5. The People and the Weather

What surprised me the most was the kindness of people. I knew that Italians were very friendly, but the locals that I met exceeded my expectations. I personally prefer to stay in a apartment, because it's sometimes cheaper and more comfortable. Airbnb was a great choice as we found a beautiful apartment, the landlady was very warm and welcoming and she sorted out everything. We also met a young couple from Sicily, owners of the coffee shop down the street, that were absolutely adorable with us.

Besides that, I was thrilled by the beautiful weather in Rome, I think that it's even warmer than Madrid. Humid and Mediterranean, the sun was shining everyday, as we went during the month of March at the period of the Wisteria blooms.
