3 Clean Brands to use during Pregnancy: Makeup and Nails

Lately I have changed my entirely Beauty Routine and I've been doing some research trying to find the cleanest formulas to use during pregnancy. Luckily, I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of 3 organic Beauty Brands. Everyday, there is more and more innovation and you can now easily find more natural and less harmful formulas with beautiful packagings and great pigmentation. I'm obsessed with my new discoveries and can't wait to share them with you.

RMS Beauty

This amazing brand was created by Rose-Marie Swift who has worked with photographers like Annie Leibovitz and is one of the favorite Make-up artists of Gisele Bündchen and Miranda Kerr.
After years in the industry, she became very ill and discovered that her blood contained high levels of chemicals found in cosmetics (barium, mercury, lead...). She wanted to create make-up products that are as pure as possible and high quality without having to compromise one's health.

What I love about this brand is the concept of the founder, to enhance your natural beauty, not to create a fake mask. The packaging, that reminds me of M.A.C Paintpots is very playful and easy to apply. You can use these products with your fingers if you don't have brushes near by. In my opinion, the best makeup is the one that combines the precision of brushes with the touch and warmth of the fingers.

My favorites from RMS Beauty are the Concealer "Un"Cover-Up in the shade 11, the Living Luminizer and the Lip2Cheek in the shade Modest.

The concealer is very nourishing and creamy, just perfection for under eyes dark circles. It doesn't dry out this area, quite the opposite, its oils nourish and diminish the appearance of fine lines while covering imperfections and discolorations.

The luminizer creates beautiful points of light on your face in a very subtle and natural way. You can achieve a very youthful glow that is extraordinarily fresh.

The Lip2Cheek is one of the most versatile products, that can be used as a lipstick or blush. I'm amazed about the high pigmentation of this creamy product, easy to work with and blendable.

ILIA

This natural non-toxic make-up brand from Canada has one of the most beautiful packagings and colour selection that you can possibly find.
Sasha Plavsic founded this brand after realizing she was wearing every day a toxic and harmful tinted lip balm.
If you like beautiful designs, you have an organic lifestyle and you want high quality formulas, this brand will meet all your expectations.

I am blown away by the True Skin Serum Foundation (Texel SF3), it's definitely one of the best foundations that I have ever tried. The finish on your skin is so natural and so easy to work with.
The blend of organic actives (aloe vera leaf, rosehip, jojoba and marula oils) is really like a touch of magic, because most of the foundations that I normally use can be a little bit cakey. It's incredible how effortlessly the formula melts on the skin for a more even and luminous finish. It's a moisturizing glowy foundation that erases fine lines and conceals imperfections without being oily or making your skin look overdone. Five Stars well deserved for this product!!

The award winning Limitless Lash Mascara is a must in your makeup bag. Why continuing using toxic formulas when you can find a balance and use less dangerous products that perform as good as the classic ones? Its flake free formula, enriched with organic shea butter, arginine and bee and carnauba waxes lifts the lashes while making them soft and flexible. The rubber brush is very precise and it makes the application very easy and buildable.

The clean Line Liquid Liner not only has a clean formula, but also one of the thinnest felt tip that let you draw the finest lines without being a pro. I prefer to begin with a thin line and go afterwards to create a bolder cat eye look. It stays on place all day long and doesn't smudge. What else could you ask for?

I also wanted a classic red Lipstick and I chose the shade Real Red of the Color Block High Impact Lipstick selection. A beautiful vibrant hue that provides a pop of colour to any look. The formula is very hydrating and pigmented. Its creamy texture sublimates your pout and it's available in a chic and timeless palette of colours.

KURE BAZAAR

The first thing that I knew beautywise when I got pregnant was that I had to avoid nail polishes, because they are full of toxic ingredients that can be dangerous even by inhalation. So, I was happy when I discovered that Kartika Luyet, founder of Kure Bazaar faced the same problem. She created a brand of nail lacquers made of 90% natural ingredients for women that want cleaner formulas.
I haven't done my nails so much since I discovered I was pregnant, but if I do a manicure or a pedicure this is the brand that I go for.

I chose two classic shades, Stiletto (vibrant red) and Vintage (old rose) with the First Base (clear) which is a must if you want to prevent polish to stain your nails. The formula is sensational made of natural derived ingredients (wood pulp, wheat, cotton, potatoes and corn) and free of all the classic nasty ones from the petrochemical industry (Toluene, Formaldehyde, Dibutyl phthalate, Synthetic Camphor, TPHP, Paraben, Xylene, Styrene, Benzophene-1, Benzophenone-3). Finally!!! An eco-friendly, non tested on animals Nail Polish that glides like a dream, dries fast and is long-lasting. Also, two very efficient nail lacquer removers 100% natural are available (Hydrating and Repairing). Both of them are acetone free to remove the colour safely.

Pregnancy Beauty Products I: Body

So many things have changed in my life that I don't even know where to start...
The Big News are that I'm pregnant. I can't really believe that I'm actually going to become a mother. I'm scared, but happy and excited at the same time. It's a very big shift in my life.

Since the beginning of my pregnancy I have been very careful with my beauty products.
The belly and the breasts are the areas where you have to focus all your attention. The simpler the formula you use the better. The key is to apply oils or creams consistently from the very first day. And don't panic, if some stretch marks appear, it's not the end of the world. Some of them will fade after giving birth and some others may not. It's something natural and you shouldn't be ashamed of them, but proud instead. These marks represent the incredible accomplishment that your body has achieved.

These are the products that I'm using and loving for my body.

Weleda Stretch Mark Massage Oil

This oil is the one in my cabinet that I use the most. I love the scent and the way it's very nourishing, but sinks perfectly on my skin. Its divine and sweet scent is the result of the beautiful blend of almond oil, wheat germ oil, arnica extract, rose oil, neroli, myrrh, frankincense and Vitamin E. I love it to put all over my body anytime. Even my physiotherapist uses it as a massage oil to relieve the pain that I'm currently experiencing on my muscles.

Pai Skincare Rosehip Oil

A very versatile oil that you can use on your tummy or your face. This oil is the most potent of them all, because it has incredible healing properties. It contains high concentrations of Omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9 plus antioxidant carotenoids that help to repair and protect the skin reducing visible damage. The downside is that you have to be extremely careful when you apply it, because it stains a lot and it's impossible to take off the yellow patches that it leaves on your white sheets and clothes. My advice, the application has to be done several hours before going to bed and if you don't have time for that, wear dark colour pyjamas that cover entirely your body.
If I'm going to apply it on my face I also put a dark colour towel on my pillow.
Aside from this, it's an absolutely precious oil that helps to prevent or at least reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

L'Occitane Pure Shea Butter

This 100% Pure Shea Butter only contains two ingredients: Refined Shea Butter and Tocopherol (most commonly known as Vitamin E). I like this rich formula when I want a deep nourishing feel on my skin. This Balm is a multi-purpose product that can be used on the driest patches of skin that you might have like elbows, knees, feet...It's very effective, but doesn't absorb very quickly because the consistency is very solid. However, if you warm it up a little bit on the palms of your hands, it gently melts and becomes easier to apply. Only a tiny dollop is necessary, so even if it's pricey, it will last longer than a regular moisturizer. If you hate perfume or fragrance, because you are suffering from nausea and you can't stand any odor, this is the right product for you. Also if you find that oils are too slippery, this dense texture is a good alternative.

Dr Haushka Rose Body Cream

This cream is pure indulgence. I love its fresh scent of rose, very feminine and sweet that instantly creates a sense of well-being. I use this body lotion when I go out and I want to smell good. It's non-greasy and you can get dressed straight after the shower when you don't have time to lose. I personally love to use an oily formula on my belly and this fragrant and creamy moisturizer for the rest of my body. It contains Rosa Damascena extract, Rose Wax, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond oil and Shea Butter for a soft and supple skin. All the ingredients are certified natural and/or organic.
