Rose of No Man's Land by Byredo

The Rose is the Queen of all the floral aroma compounds that we can find in Perfumery. Cultivated for centuries in many cultures, it has been used for celebrations and as a symbol of love, beauty, but also power and war. The Rose of No Man's Land is a song written by Jack Caddigan and Alexander Brennan as a tribute to the Red Cross nurses at the front lines of the first World War. These unknown Heroines saved thousands of lives in very difficult conditions. Their story is one of selfness and compassion.

I'm deeply moved by the beauty of this perfume, it's the most elegant, sophisticate and feminine scent that I have worn in a long time. When I spritz it on my wrist I feel powerful and more confident, its scent is comforting and very captivating, a touch of warmth to feel cosy during Autumn and Winter. This Eau de Parfum is centered around the Turkish Rose scent, but the other ingredients give to this delicate creation all its complexity.
The top notes are Pink Pepper and Turkish Rose Absolute, a spicy and sparkling first impression. Then, as heart notes, the Raspberry Blossom and the delicate petals of the Turkish Rose deploy all the romanticism and the sweet intensity. The base notes of White Musk and Papyrus give the final touch of dryness, sensuality and empowerment.

Jérôme Épinette is the nose behind this rich perfume, a unique Rose scent that it's pure olfactory poetry.

NARS Audacious Lipsticks

I have been searching for so long a good lipstick formula...Trends aren't for me, completely matte lips are beautiful for an Editorial on the glossy pages of a Magazine, but on my lips these dry formulas look horrendous. I have also been very frustrated by Liquid Lipsticks, that are so cool, but not for me. They make my lips extremely dry and the result throughout the day is cracked colour that looks old and not pretty.
I knew that several years ago NARS launched a new range of lipsticks called Audacious, for this creation François Nars was inspired by iconic women and their signature lip shades.

The first lip colour that I tried was Catherine. This shade is a soft coral that is surprisingly flattering. When I first swatched it, I thought that it will look bolder on my lips, but the finish reminds me of the vintage makeup looks worn by Grace Kelly in the 50's. This lipstick gives you instant light to your complexion.
I also think that the shade Brigitte is a staple to have. It's a classic mauvy pink, very feminine and versatile. It goes well with minimal makeup and with a dramatic smoky eye look. It' a joyful, fun and flirty colour, very 60's.
Last, but not least, the shade called Jane, a beautiful neutral brown and brick shade with a hint of pink. I love to wear it all year long, but specially, during Autumn. For me, this is a colour that Rachel Green from Friends would wear during the early 00's, but it also has the 70's vibes of that Terracotta lip colors worn by Jane Birkin.

I'm completely in love with this creamy formulation that has an incredible pigmented colour payoff. These lipsticks feel hydrating and slide like satin.

Go to the nearest NARS Counter and start to swatch them, you will certainly find a colour that suits you.

Summer Skincare Finds

Oh Summer! You are so sweet, with your endless sunny days and your magical nights of shooting stars in the sky.
This season I have been happier than ever, I have spent my days lying, strolling, eating, drinking, reading, resting and spending quality time with my family. Because I was on holidays I let my hair become more wild and my beauty regimen was in general very low maintenance.
The big change and improvement that I have noticed, compared to other years, is on my complexion. I used to have so many breakouts and bad skin due to the sweat and the fact that I applied the same heavy creams that I use during winter...
I have learnt that you have to listen to your skin to perceive what are its needs depending on the situation or the concern (dryness, irritation, breakouts, clogged pores, lack of radiance...). If you have a favorite staple skincare product that works for you, stick with it, but also try to adapt your beauty routine to your real needs and you will see the best results.
I have been using 3 new products and my beloved Darphin Water Lily cleanser that I had previously mentioned in my French Pharmacy post. The first one that I bought was the Kiehl's Calendula & Aloe  Soothing Hydration MasqueAn ideal treatment for Summer, because as you know, Aloe Vera is restorative and hydrating but without being heavy or greasy, just gelly and refreshing. After long exposures to the sunlight Aloe Vera is the best aftersun, because it repairs the damage and calms the skin. This mask is very natural, I have put on my skin raw aloe vera gel directly from the leafs several times, and the feel is very similar. It also contains hand-picked calendula flower petals that are anti-bacterial, antioxidant, brightening and regenerating. The combination of these two ingredients (Aloe Vera + Calendula) is exceptional to heal the skin. During heat waves if you store this product in the fridge the cooling and hydrating effect are the best sensation to feel good. A must-have for the years to come in my Summer beauty case.
I'm also thrilled to write about an organic and vegan brand from Madrid called Herbera. Oh Gosh! Their products are so amazing! I discovered them thanks to a very good Esthetician called Raquel from The Beauty Cave

Herbera Burdock and Nigella Sativa Facial Fluid

This moisturizer should be called dreamy lemon fluid because it has an irresistible citrussy scent and leaves your skin hydrated and plumped avoiding a greasy finish. 90% of the ingredients are organic and the two key ones are burdock and nigella sativa that help you to prevent pimples and blackheads whilst they calm the irritation caused by the sun.
Other actives in the formula are Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed, Hammelis, Calendula and essential oil of Lemongrass. What it's surprising about this facial fluid is the fact that your face looks matte but very comfortable and moisturized at the same time. The last time that I used a product to reduce the excess of shine I was a teenager and I was never satisfied. These type of creams tended to dry out my skin.
I'm very impressed by this product that is a balance between the control of shine and the hydration of the complexion. The smell is just sensational, like lemon curd or lemon pie.

Herbera Ginko Biloba and Hyaluronic Acid Eye Cream

I have been neglecting my under eye area for years, but now these days are over, I'm really into specific treatments for this delicate area prone to fine lines.
This cream is very gentle and has a fantastic refreshing feel. Its formula contains Hyaluronic Acid (which is hydrating and anti-aging) and Ginko Biloba extract that improves the appearance of the skin leaving a smooth finish. Other ingredients of this anti-aging eye cream are Evening Primrose Oil, Jojoba Oil and Peppermint Essential Oil.
I've been using a lot this product during all Summer, not only because 80,90 % of the ingredients are natural and organic, but also because the scent of Peppermint has an invigorating and mood-elevating effect. It makes you feel in harmony and calms mental agitation. On the skin this essential oil has a cooling and decongestant sensation which is very welcomed when you are very tired.

Vitaminize your skin with Drunk Elephant

Lately, I have been in a "back to basics" mode which means that at my 30's I should probably be less concerned about anti-aging skincare products and more about how actually I can do to prevent the damage on my skin caused by external factors. So, as a reminder and as boring as it may seem, this is what you have to do:

1) Drink Plenty of Water
2) Clean well your face daily to have your pores on point (Also don't forget about facials, acids and exfoliations)
3) Have a healthy lifestyle (sleep, diet, avoid bad habits...)
4) Wear Daily SPF to prevent Sun Damage
5) Hydrate and nourish your skin to maintain its elasticity
6) Use Antioxidants

This last one is underestimated, but it's crucial nowadays to fight against not only sun damage, but also pollution and oxidative skin stress in general.

I have been using for a long time the L-Ascorbic Acid form of Vitamin C and I can tell that what it does is truly amazing.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum

This serum is glow bottled, really, after several applications my skin feels brighter and plumped. It's hard to find such a high concentration of vitamin C, but this glorious nectar has 15% of L-Ascorbic Acid. It also contains Ferulic Acid, Vitamin E (also antioxidants) and other botanical ingredients and moisturizers (pumpkin ferment and pomegranate extract). C- Firma is an antioxidant that effectively reduces the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation spots and dullness of the skin. The formula has a little tingling effect when applied, but hey!, that means that it's working baby ;) If you have very sensitive skin avoid its use because it's very powerful which also means irritant. I have a normal to dry  complexion and this serum is totally ok for me. The texture is a mixture of oil and gel, but absorbs pretty fast and stays on the skin for 72h.

Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream

My under eye skin is a reflection of my personality. I smile a lot and that fact combined with the dryness of this area makes as a result, one of my most "aged" parts of my face. Paradoxically it's the most neglected step of my skincare routine. For years I have been thinking, why do I have to use a different product for my under eye skin?  Are the regular products for all over the face not good enough? Is it a marketing strategy to make me buy more? Oh What the heck, I also have to admit that I'm even sometimes too lazy to apply another extra cream...
I have now made a real change in my beauty routine and apply more often formulations specifically designed to target the potential aggressors of this fine and delicate area of my face. C-Tango is a great treatment for under my eyes, its creamy formula nourishes these thin layers of skin and the blend of antioxidants diminishes the appearance of fine lines. It has a combination of eight peptides, five forms of vitamin C (Wow!) and cucumber extract. The bottle is almost empty, because I just love it, not only it repairs and makes your skin smoother but it's also quite brightening. Goodbye dark circles and discolorations!

Sunny Days Makeup

I'm loving this Spring in Madrid. It has been more chilly and rainy, but I couldn't be more happy. I'm a weirdo and I feel great after a thunderstorm when the air is damp, clean and fresh. The bad thing is that my skin looks like alabaster, because the sun hasn't shined enough to have a desirable and healthy tanned look. I'm always excited about trying and discovering new beauty products and for this particular transitional period I have found the perfect pick me up makeup to minimize dull skin and bring light and color to a wintry face.

First of all, the base. Laura Mercier knows how to formulate makeup and she has created one of the best tinted moisturizers available in the market. I have been using the classic one for years and a few months ago I was tempted to change and try the Illuminating Version. This base is amazing, I use it as my first step in my morning skincare routine. It's very easy to apply because the only tool that you need is  your fingers. It blends nicely and easily on your face and provides you a medium SPF of 20. The finish on the skin is beautiful and luminous. It adds a hint of natural colour to your face with a touch of flattering shimmer. This product is great in the mornings when you don't have time to put many products (moisturizer, spf, primer, foundation and liquid highlighter), because it does everything in one.

Another discovery has been this YSL lipstick in the shade 17 Rose Dahlia. It looks so amazing! I have a lot of compliments when I wear it. The thing is, this lipstick gives light and color to your face. It makes it look more awake and alive if that makes sense. It's the perfect combination of Red, Pink and Orange. Sometimes red is too bold, pink is too dolly and orange, well...too colorful. The formula is very moisturizing and has a shiny finish. What a joyful and pretty lip product,  I could not recommend it more!

I'm a sucker for everything 70's related and that's why I bought the By Terry Sun Designer Palette n°6 Happy Sun. It has a combination of powders designed like the iconic vintage Missoni fabric.
This artistic and beautiful palette comes with three bronzers (chocolate, peach and terracotta) that have a matte silky finish. The right part has three shades of  highlighters (champagne, bronze and copper) that can be mixed up or applied separately.

Last, but not least, I put on my cheeks Natural Glow Butter Blush by Physicians Formula.
During this time of the year and in Summer I prefer to choose nude blushers, because I want to focus all the attention on the bronzy glowy idea of complexion. This is a very sheer shimmering product that gives a hint of pink to your cheeks. It's very natural, so if you want more intensity you have to reapply it several times until you get the desired pigmentation. Enriched with Murmuru Butter, this smooth blush smells like a beach paradise full of coconuts.

Discovering Antipodes Skincare

A few days ago I went to Paris for a week. I was so excited about this trip!
Since I moved to Spain in December 2015 I never had the opportunity to go back. During this spring break I had a blast and I was so happy to spend time with my friends and my boyfriend's family whom I adore.
On the last day of my stay, during a long stroll across the 6th and 7th districts I went to the cutest natural beauty shop called "Oh! My Cream". If you ever go to Paris and you are a self-confessed beauty addict like me, don't miss out this little gem. Inside you can find the best selection of organic and natural beauty brands that are more niche than the average. I'm a very curious person, I really get very excited about new things and Antipodes Skincare is one of those brands that has been on my list of beauty products I would like to try.
Recently, I have been loving more and more organic silicon and paraben free ingredients. Life it's a balance and I don't waive to very sophisticated and advanced science, but sometimes natural formulas full of actives are as effective and less harsh than others that are actually full of fillers and preservatives.

First things first, what is Antipodes? It's an organic, natural and cruelty free brand from New Zealand inspired by the power of its unique biodiversity. I was very tempted to buy everything, but just chose two products instead that I really needed.

Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Cream

This cream is a dream really, it's sensational like whipped cream. My face feels so comfortable, restored and nourished when I apply it before going to bed. The formula is thick and very soft, but absorbs very nice for its consistency. It has a heavenly scent due to the organic essential oils blended inside this concoction: ylang ylang, sandalwood leaf and jasmine. Pure happiness for your senses! The formula is the result of the blend of restorative ingredients. The avocado oil helps to hydrate the skin increasing the collagen production that makes the skin more supple. The Manuka honey has antibacterial properties that promote a fresh and blemish free complexion. The last key ingredient is vinaza grape that that improves firmness and restores the damage caused by free radicals. If you want to wake up with a fairy glow, a hydrated and plumped baby face, this night cream will be great for you.

Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin-Plumping Serum

This award-winning serum is a powerful defense against the visible oxidative stress on your skin caused by the overexposure to the sun, stress, bad diet, lack of sleep, smoking, alcohol, too much exercise, pollution and even some medications. I don't know about you, but I'm obsessed with the wreak havoc that can cause some external factors that I can't control, so I try as hard as I can to have the best diet and to treat topically my skin with potent products that fight against these multiple aggressors.
The lightweight formula of Antipodes Hosanna serum is a shot of anti-aging boosters for your skin. It contains Vinaza, an antioxidant extract of grape from sustainable plantations. Another two super ingredients of this formula are Waiwera Artesian Water rich in beneficial minerals and Mamaku Black Fern, a bioactive from New Zealand that helps to accelerate cell renewal. This watery serum absorbs very very fast and you can even apply two layers if your skin is in the need of an extra dose of daily hydration. You can wear this during the day or at night. It has a slightly tingling sensation, but disappears after one minute after the application. This doesn't bother me at all, as all of my most effective elixirs in my skincare collection tend to produce to me this little reaction (naturals and not so naturals). After three weeks in a row slathering on my face this product I have noticed that my skin tone has improved and my complexion is more radiant and looks healthier.

Pai Skincare The Natural Brand for Sensitive Skin

Pai skincare rocks my socks, It's an awesome English brand that never ceases to amaze me. Created for sensitive and reactive skin types, its all natural formulations instantly seduced me.
The first ever product that I tried was the Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser and it's hands down the best one in my skincare collection. I'm always tempted to try new products and discover new brands, but with my cleanser I just can't. I continue to buy over and over new bottles of this genius and gentle product that has revolutionized my beauty routine. Its creamy formula removes any trace of makeup or dirt on the skin. You have to apply it on dry skin and massage it doing circular motions to dissolve daily grime. To remove the cream (that's my favorite part) use the dual effect cloth damped with warm water for a relaxing sensation. It has two sides, one that is softer for delicate parts and another one that is slightly exfoliant but not very harsh. The result on your skin is spectacular, a fresh clean face that isn't dehydrated. I've been using it religiously day and night and I have know the clearest complexion since several months. Honestly, I can't recommend it more!
Another two products that have become a staple in my beauty cabinet are the Echium and Argan Gentle Eye Cream and the Rosehip Oil. The first one it's a dream, a smooth formula that deeply hydrates the thin layers of the eye area whilst its unique concentration of Omegas 3 and 6 regenerates the skin. This sensitive part is always problematic as it's prone to irritation, dryness and fine lines. I think that I have been looking for a good eye cream for years and I have finally find it. A more natural and less complex formulation but definitely more effective. The Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil is another proof that sometimes natural and powerful actives are the key to a beautiful and healthy looking skin. I have been using Rosehip Oil for years and what I have learnt is that this incredible ingredient is one of the most effective nature's gift to treat the skin. Rosehip Oil is a multi-tasker, it repairs, nourishes the skin and reduces dullness, blemishes, pigmentation, but also fine lines. Renowned for its healing properties and its high concentrations of Omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9. Its also full of antioxidant carotenoids that help repair and protect the skin against environmental stresses and visible damage (acne scars and sunburns). An excellent at night treatment to wakeup the morning after with a renewed and supple skin. Only one little advice, don't forget to put a towel on top of your pillow when you go to bed to avoid orange stains that are impossible to remove.
The last two products that I have recently purchased are the Skin Brightening Exfoliator and the Rapid Radiance Mask. I use them during the weekends when I have the time to boost my skincare game. I normally prefer chemical exfoliators than physical ones as I don't like the sensation of tiny particles rubbing my face, but I thought why not give this a try as it was specially formulated for the most sensitive complexions. It contains Kukui Hawaiian Oil and Jojoba beads that gently buff the skin refining the surface without causing any irritation. Once a week this exfoliator will lift away dead skin cells and persistent impurities locked on your pores. Afterwards I apply on Sundays the luxurious texture of the Rapid Radiance Mask that instantly gives to my complexion a glow and restores the dryness and dullness. This mask is excellent, the first day that I applied it a colleague at work said to me the day after that my skin looked great and luminous. What more could you ask for?

CHANEL Poudre à Lèvres / Lip Balm and Powder Duo

Sometimes you can find some outstanding products at the beauty counters of Sephora.... This Lip Balm and Powder Duo is one of them. It's not practical, but special very special. As a makeup collector I was really interested the first time I saw it, because I'm passionate about the history of beauty. The fact that a lipstick is presented in a powdery form reminded me of the vintage makeup from the 20's like Cake Mascara.
The packaging, is very elegant and classy, beautiful to have inside your handbag because it comes with a handy mirror that can help you with your touch ups throughout the day. Divided in two, one of the first squares is a lip balm and the other one is a vibrant pigment. I have always been fascinated by the intensity of pigments and how beautiful they are when applied on the right places. Many makeup artists during fashion shows and editorial photo shoots add a final touch to the lips with pigments for an extra pop of colour.

Rosso Pompeiano, the limited edition shade that I chose, could be described as an intense true red. I have to say that it's one of the prettiest colours that I have ever tried, it instantly gives light to your complexion and paired with the right mascara it makes you look more awake in the morning. The finish is very glam and matte and you can create a blurred lip effect that it's now very trendy. It's definitely very buildable, so you don't have to be afraid of the colour. You can only pat very lightly the powder for subtle healthy lips or if you prefer you can add progressively more colour to achieve a dramatic look.
I personally use my clean fingers to apply it, but it comes with two little brushes for a more precise and hygienic application when you are on the go. It's not long lasting but that's ok for me. I used to be obsessed with lipsticks that stayed like wall paint on my lips for hours and that were impossible to remove. It mustn't be very good, right? If you have very dry lips like me I highly recommend to use your regular nourishing lip product, because the one that comes is only enough to blend the product, but not to prepare the surface. I see myself wearing this all the time, specially now that the sunny days are coming. It will certainly look beautiful with a tanned complexion.

Three Books to Feel Cosy

The last couple of days have been very rainy. I can say that I'm a Pluviophile, I feel good when it rains, very relaxed and serene. Where I live is very dry and it's rare to see regurlaly raindrops hitting my roof, which is for me, one of the most satisfying sensations in the world. I really enjoy to stay in, lit a candle, read a book and sip a cup of tea, that's my definition of Happiness.

These three books are precious guides to appreciate small but important pleasures in life. They also have helped me to be more present in the moment and ultimately to feel great.

The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking

The author of this book, Meik Wiking, is the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, what a dream job, huh? The Danes are the happiest nation in the world and that is due to their magic ingredient, Hygge.

Hygge is a very difficult word to translate or even explain, it could be described as the feeling of togetherness, comfort and warmth.

This book is always on my bedside table, I like to read it again and again as I'm fascinated by the Danish way to live well. The cover is beautiful, very Scandinavian and retro in blue, orange and gold colours. Inside you will find an illustrated guide on how Danes find happiness: good lighting, comfort food, style, decor, closeness to nature and good ideas to enjoy life all year round from going to a ski trip in winter to organize a picnic during summer. What I like the most about this book is the way it's written, with numbers that say it all about the studies that were made in different countries asking the respondents how they really feel in different situations. I am very inspired by all the good ideas that it gives you to enjoy life on the cheap. I'm a self-confessed addict to Instagram and sometimes I find that you are constantly pushed to spend money in order to feel great or have a good time, but the truth is that the best things in life are free and can be achieved on a short budget. Enjoying simple pleasures like good company, spend time on your favorite hobbies, tv nights, organize a barbecue or go hiking into the wild are the key ingredients of Hygge and can be done with very little money.

The Year of Cozy by Adriana Adarme

This book is the epitome of the word cozy. Adriana Adarme suggest a wide range of activities to full your days with the joy and satisfaction of doing by yourself. It's important to never stop being creative and find the comfort of loosing for a bit the notion of time with entertaining activities like baking some cookies or painting beautiful ceramics. I love the fact that it's divided by seasons, so you can adapt the ideas according with the time of the year or the weather. This book is great to find some inspiration and to do more things like crafts, because when was the last time that I did one? I can't even remember, but what I know, for sure, is that I used to be so happy gathering all the supplies and finally observing carefully how everything came together. I remember how good this sensation made me feel! So now, I'm trying to plan also my free time in order to do more fulfilling activities like start a collection, do homemade soy candles, make a time capsule box, build an original flower arrangement or give someone a diner box. All of this because happiness comes from creating time to savor life's little moments.

Lagom by Linnea Dunne

This book describes the Swedish art of a balanced living. Lagom means not too little, not too much, just right. With my excessive and intense Mediterranean personality this wisdomness that comes from the North is very welcomed.

To find the perfect balance isn't easy, who is not tempted to eat the entire bar of chocolate when you open it? Well, Swedes don't. They refrain their selves, because very often they take time to indulge and have a cup of coffee with cakes. This is what they call Fika!

Balance is the answer to find happiness in the long term and Swedes take this very seriously and apply it to any situation in life: work, food, consumerism, wellbeing...What I like the most about this book is its earthy approach. It encourages you to grow your own food or go foraging. Activities that make you happy because you are outdoors in contact with nature, but are also beneficial for the planet. Lagom is the opposite of the multinational machinery of consumerism, it's being aware of the environment and feel free having a lightweight attitude to material possessions. Just the guide that I needed!

Jo Malone London English Fields

If there is a brand that knows how to capture feelings it's Jo Malone London.
Their new collection is a tribute to the English heritage, five new fragrances inspired by the sensation of walking through the meadows during different periods of the year. What a fantastic and unexpected idea!! English Fields is a new limited edition that will certainly evoke powerful memories like the Marcel Proust's Madeleine.

And talking about madeleines...I was lucky enough to be one of the first to discover these creations surrounded by magnificent breads and delicious pastries from Pan Delirio in Madrid. I had the opportunity to discover this launch doing also some bread and cereal tasting to perceive the raw natural ingredients.

The notes used are cereals (wheat, rye, barley and oats) combined with wild flowers like poppies, crocus or cornflowers. I chose two fragrances with which I'm currently obsessed!!

Poppy & Barley

Imagine summer sunlight skipping across golden fields with red vibrant poppies.
It's a very feminine scent that actually smells to me like a gorgeous lady that lives in the countryside. The notes of this creation are rose, barley, violet, blackcurrant, bran and white musk. The contrast of the dry and earthy side of cereals paired with the tangy, fresh and sweet accord of flowers and blackcurrant gives to this fragrance all its beauty. The final touch of white musk has a very powdery and soft as cotton feel on the skin.

Green Wheat and Meadowsweet

This cologne symbolizes the beginning of the spring, a promise of longer and brighter days.
It captures the scent of young wheat fields. The green notes are predominant and have a very fresh facet thanks to the grapefruit. The vetiver and the meadowsweet complete this olfactory experience that represents the cereals before they mature into grains. For me it's a fantastic combination of zesty citruses with clean greens that has a delicious sweet finish on the skin. A very special and irresistible scent, because it's the perfect balance between sweet and crisp notes.

A Big THANK YOU to Jo Malone Spain who kindly invited me to the most beautiful event.

L´Occitane en Provence x Rifle Paper Co

I love and I've been using for years L'Occitane and when I saw that they where doing a collaboration with Rifle Paper Co I couldn't resist.

L'Occitane is a French brand that brings to us beautiful natural products inspired by the region of Provence. This part of France has been historically known for its know-how in perfumery and the art of capture the fragrant compounds exuded by plants using different techniques (distillation, enfleurage...). The key ingredients of L'Occitane are essential oils (rosemary, lavender...), almond oil or even shea butter.

Rifle Paper Co is a young American brand founded by the very talented Anna Rifle Bond and her husband. The oneiric illustrations made by Anna are printed on the covers of cute AF notebooks, greeting cards or even phone cases. These unique designs are whimsical and beautiful. I own several notebooks and journals just to collect them and to look at them because they have so many details and are so ravishing!

I'm completely obsessed with this release and happy to have different sizes of karité butter products to keep them in my bag or on my bedside table. The big box comes also with four Rifle Paper Co post cards that makes it an even more special present.

The collection is focused on their best-seller Shea Butter hand cream and let me tell you that it's the best one that I've tried in my entire life. Seriously, this natural formula repairs everything from dryness, corns and even cracked hands if you are consistent in the application. It smells amazing, the texture is very rich and it absorbs astonishingly quick.

An amazing collab for gift-giving or as I did, to treat yourself and have the most pinterestable objects that you can possibly imagine.

The Ordinary

This brand is not ordinary, but extraordinary. Created to offer clinical formulas with integrity (low price tag and pure actives) they have revolutionized the skincare world by allowing us, skincare geeks, to become more educated and to have the possibility to customize our skincare routine depending of each specific need. Their very scientific lab looking packaging contains Retinols, Vitamins, Acids, Oils and more complex molecules that will help to target directly and efficiently your major concerns.
My skin is normal to dry, I´m in my 30´s and my will is to improve my skin´s condition and erase fines lines of expression, acne scars and hyper pigmentation. I also like to exfoliate time to time with some acids and overall to maintain my skin´s moisture levels high to feel it more supple and elastic.

Anti-Ageing

Who’s not scared by the tiny fines lines that discreetly appear under your eyes, the nasolabial area and even on the forehead? I’ve been obsessed to avoid fine lines since I was 25 and know I have incorporated to my daily routine more effective products that smooth and lift the contours of my face.
ARGIRELINE SOLUTION 10%
This is a very effective solution of Acetyl Hexapeptide-8. A trademark owned by the Spanish Company Lipotec. This neuropeptide, relaxes the facial muscles that lead to wrinkles, so it´s a targeted treatment to use only on the folds or lines that are forming or are already very present. You don´t have to use it all over your face, but only on the specific areas where your muscles are contracted more often. It´s not a magic product, but I have noticed that my skin´s appearance has significantly improved since I´ve started this treatment. It absorbs very quickly as it´s water based so it´s perfect to add as an anti-ageing boost to your skincare routine.
MATRIXYL 10% + HA
This is a trademark lipopeptide developed by the French company Sesderma. Created with two ``versions´´of Matrixyl (3000 +Sinthe’6) and coupled with HA, Hyaluronic Acid, a lipid which allows to penetrate into deeper layers of the skin. These compounds together stimulate the production of collagen and elastin reducing the look of wrinkles. I love how it feels when applied on the skin, I think it´s due to the hyaluronic acid. My face looks very plumped in the morning. If you are looking for a good anti-ageing serum, this one is fantastic as it gives to your skin more elasticity and a more youthful appearance.

Acids

When I first heard about acids in skincare I freaked out, as I associated the use of them to the stories of violent acid attacks in cities like London. I was so ignorant… All my life I have been using physical exfoliators and I was truly amazed the first time I applied Glycolic Acid for the first time. The choice of the best exfoliator depends on your skin´s preferences. Yes, its preferences, because sometimes rubbing tiny particles can be irritating for some persons, or a certain type of acid can cause to others an itchy uncomfortable sensation. My advice, experiment by yourself gradually, starting with tiny patches of your complexion where you feel that your skin is less reactive.
LACTIC ACID 10% + HA

There is also a more gentle version of Lactic Acid 5%, but I went for the more concentrate one, as my skin is not very sensitive or reactive right now. I really like this product for a weekly exfoliation, I use it as a serum. I apply a few drops only at night all over my skin and massage it well. It is a tiny bit itchy and tacky, but absorbs pretty well. The morning after the use of a high SPF is mandatory, as Lactic Acid is a derivative of AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) that makes your complexion more sensitive to sunburns. Avoid direct and intense sun exposure for a week after the application.
I really like the fact that it's blended with Hyaluronic Acid, so it has a comfortable feel on the skin. It also contains purified Tasmanian Pepper Berry that reduces the irritation caused by this acid. If you have extremely sensitive skin, as Lactic Acid is a chemical peeling, I recommend to try it first on a small patch of skin. After all the warnings, let's talk about the benefits. The morning after I apply it with a very simple moisturizer like Ebryolisse, my skin wakes up radiant and glowy. It diminishes the appearance of pores, improve skin's tone and reduce hyper pigmentation and tiny fine lines. It's an amazing product because it's a surface exfoliator and doesn't go very deep into skin's layers like other acids. The use of Lactic Acid regularly will lighten your skin and will remove dead skin cells revealing the healthy new ones. My face looks polished, bright and flawless when I use it.

ALPHA LIPOIC ACID 5%

So, this is a a game changer acid for me. My face looks incredibly good when I apply it, seriously very smooth and luminous. The hitch is that it burns on my face, like, literally! I even cry sometimes, because it's difficult to stand the tingling sensation. You might probably think that I'm crazy, but trust me, it's completely safe.
This formulation contains an extremely high concentration of Alpha Lipoid Acid, so use it only two to three drops once a week. ALA is a highly potent antioxidant and has anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties. An unsung hero, because it's more effective than Vitamin C+Vitamin E together. ALA is a great treatment to prevent wrinkles, pores and uneven texture that will also improve acne scars marks. This acid is ideal to use time to time to revitalize your skin.

Emollient

100% PLANT DERIVED SQUALANE

It might sound basic, but hydration is key for a healthy and youthful complexion. Without the suppleness, hydration and elasticity, the skin is more prone to premature aging. This product is a must in my skincare cabinet, because it's perfect for a simple and soothing routine after applying peptides, acids...Less is more and I don't like to mix ingredients, I prefer to let my skin focuses in one specific blend of actives and do not driving it crazy with complex mixtures and layers. This cruelty-free vegan Squalane is a non-comedogenic hydrator. It has an oil feel, but in my opinion, the absorption is quicker. It's a very good emollient for your skin.

I'm crazy about THE ORDINARY, because it has democratized the use of highly effective clinical formulations present in very expensive and high end skincare products.
Two days ago, I added to my collection Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane and Alpha Arbutin 2% with HA, but I haven't use them enough to have a constructed opinion. Let my know if you are interested in a review of them, or if you have tried another product of this brand.

Body & Hair Products that make me feel Good

After a long day at work I'm really tired and the only thing that instantly comforts me is to have a warm shower. Recently, I have been using again and again these products and they make me feel very good. The common denominator lies in their incredible smell. Scents can have a positive effect on our moods. My favorite notes are flowers and fruits. Try to find your most loved ones and discover their hidden force to improve a desired psychological state of mind.

I start my aromathology ritual by washing my hair with the Daddy O Shampoo by Lush. A magical purple product that smells like fresh violets and lemon. The colour itself on my hair makes me smile. I have also mentioned this product in the "Unicorn Beauty" post that you will see below:

https://thebeautysatisfaction.blogspot.com.es/2017/10/unicorn-beauty.html

After rinsing thoroughly this beautiful shampoo, I use KLORANE Mask with Mango Butter. This treatment not only nourishes dry hair, but leaves an irresistible mango scent on your hair, sweet and fresh like real ripe mango. Words aren't just enough to describe how good it makes me feel. My hair is very smooth and moisturized after using it. While I leave the mask doing its job I wash my body with the shower gel Rose Jam by LUSH, and yes it's dreamy I just want to lick myself after using it, because it exactly smells like sweet strawberry jam with a hint of rose petals. This gel is very special, because as it's formulated with natural ingredients, essential pure oils and Turkish Rose absolute it leaves your skin with an incredible scent that last several hours.

After living a fantasy show of colour and perfume in my shower I don't forget to moisture my body's skin with Sleepy Body Lotion by LUSH, an invitation to relaxation. The ideal finishing product to let go the day that wraps your body into a calming blend of lavender, tonic absolute, yang ylang oil and oatmeal infusion.

It's just small beauty treats like these that make all the difference.

Do you have a little sensory ritual that make you feel good?

Gentle Cleansers for Winter

Happy New Year!!!It's been a while since my last post. Normally I tend to be very stressed by the goals that I have fixed to myself, but at the end of 2017 I have learned to be more positive, self-appreciative and grateful. I don't know why, but at the moment I feel stronger than ever, that's a change!
When the cold days arrived my complexion started to turn more sensitive and extremely dry, so I completely changed my skincare routine and switched from my regular gels and soaps to more gentle and moisturizing products. Thanks to these two, my skin is now clearer than ever, no pimples or spots on the way.

Pai Camelia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser

This cleanser is the best choice for sensitive and dehydrated skin. I know tons of people that never wash properly their faces with the excuse that they have dry or reactive skin and they think that micellar water applied with a cotton pad is enough to remove the daily grime. Well, they are totally wrong! A clean skin with unclogged pores is essential. The creams and serums that will be applied wouldn't be absorbed properly if so.

I personally love to wash my face, it's a very relaxing and enjoyable moment for me. This cleanser is heavenly and the ritual of doing it with a tool, the cloth, makes me feel like I'm doing a facial or I'm in a spa.
The texture of the product is creamy, it smells incredibly good, very natural and botanical. For the application,
I simply massage the cream well on the skin and damp in hot water the cloth to take off the product very gently. The cloth has two sides one exfoliating muslin and an ultra soft side for sensitive areas. To ensure that is very clean, I put it in the washing machine after 5 uses. Even if you have a very reactive skin, you can try this cleanser as it's free from detergents, alcohol and other nasty ingredients. Enriched with Castor and Sweet Almond oil, it melts any leftover of makeup while protecting the skin. The Omegas 6 and 9 and the Vitamin E replenish the skin's moisture barrier. The Camellia dry oil included in the formula leaves the skin moistured, soft and elastic without an oily feel. I'm really impressed by this cleanser, the efficiency, the finish on the skin and the luxurious and natural formula really worth the price.

OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL

This cleanser is a staple in my skincare collection. I think that I have like a skincare wardrobe, which means that I have way too many products, but it can be useful depending of the occasion. I don't use this cleanser all year round, but during winter my skin begs me to pick it. This pink gel that transforms into an oil, has to be applied on dry skin. I massage it well and when the texture changes I add a tiny little bit of water to emulsify the product. Then it changes again its appearance for the second time to a non-foaming white milk. Its formula is a boost of vitamins, very necessary during the gloomy months of winter, that leaves your skin cleaned and radiant without drying it out. The key actives are vitamins A, B2, C and E that help to fortify, protect and smooth your skin of the past and the future damage fighting against free radicals and environmental aging factors. Fermented pumpkin enzymes deeply cleanse the skin removing dull skin cells. Minerals like MSM and Magnesium soothe, calm and improve firmness. It also contains starflower oil and Omega 6 to enhance the skin's lipid barrier.

These two brit brands are developing amazing products that are natural, luxurious and really work at the same time. Have you already tried these two? Or another product of these brands? I'm a total fan and I'm really interested in your opinion.
