Pregnancy Beauty Products I: Body

So many things have changed in my life that I don't even know where to start...
The Big News are that I'm pregnant. I can't really believe that I'm actually going to become a mother. I'm scared, but happy and excited at the same time. It's a very big shift in my life.

Since the beginning of my pregnancy I have been very careful with my beauty products.
The belly and the breasts are the areas where you have to focus all your attention. The simpler the formula you use the better. The key is to apply oils or creams consistently from the very first day. And don't panic, if some stretch marks appear, it's not the end of the world. Some of them will fade after giving birth and some others may not. It's something natural and you shouldn't be ashamed of them, but proud instead. These marks represent the incredible accomplishment that your body has achieved.

These are the products that I'm using and loving for my body.

Weleda Stretch Mark Massage Oil

This oil is the one in my cabinet that I use the most. I love the scent and the way it's very nourishing, but sinks perfectly on my skin. Its divine and sweet scent is the result of the beautiful blend of almond oil, wheat germ oil, arnica extract, rose oil, neroli, myrrh, frankincense and Vitamin E. I love it to put all over my body anytime. Even my physiotherapist uses it as a massage oil to relieve the pain that I'm currently experiencing on my muscles.

Pai Skincare Rosehip Oil

A very versatile oil that you can use on your tummy or your face. This oil is the most potent of them all, because it has incredible healing properties. It contains high concentrations of Omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9 plus antioxidant carotenoids that help to repair and protect the skin reducing visible damage. The downside is that you have to be extremely careful when you apply it, because it stains a lot and it's impossible to take off the yellow patches that it leaves on your white sheets and clothes. My advice, the application has to be done several hours before going to bed and if you don't have time for that, wear dark colour pyjamas that cover entirely your body.
If I'm going to apply it on my face I also put a dark colour towel on my pillow.
Aside from this, it's an absolutely precious oil that helps to prevent or at least reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

L'Occitane Pure Shea Butter

This 100% Pure Shea Butter only contains two ingredients: Refined Shea Butter and Tocopherol (most commonly known as Vitamin E). I like this rich formula when I want a deep nourishing feel on my skin. This Balm is a multi-purpose product that can be used on the driest patches of skin that you might have like elbows, knees, feet...It's very effective, but doesn't absorb very quickly because the consistency is very solid. However, if you warm it up a little bit on the palms of your hands, it gently melts and becomes easier to apply. Only a tiny dollop is necessary, so even if it's pricey, it will last longer than a regular moisturizer. If you hate perfume or fragrance, because you are suffering from nausea and you can't stand any odor, this is the right product for you. Also if you find that oils are too slippery, this dense texture is a good alternative.

Dr Haushka Rose Body Cream

This cream is pure indulgence. I love its fresh scent of rose, very feminine and sweet that instantly creates a sense of well-being. I use this body lotion when I go out and I want to smell good. It's non-greasy and you can get dressed straight after the shower when you don't have time to lose. I personally love to use an oily formula on my belly and this fragrant and creamy moisturizer for the rest of my body. It contains Rosa Damascena extract, Rose Wax, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond oil and Shea Butter for a soft and supple skin. All the ingredients are certified natural and/or organic.
