An Ode to Diptyque Do Son Eau de Toilette

I have a quite feminine and romantic taste in perfumes, I love floral scents. I can't help myself, when I sniff a bouquet of flowers or a blooming peony, lilac, rose, magnolia, jasmine or wisteria in my mum's garden, I have an instant reaction of joy. Several years ago I discovered the scent of tuberose as a soliflore, without being mixed with other notes, and I completely felt in love with its narcotic perfume. It's one of the sexiest most opulent floral scents that I have ever experienced. For some it is too heady and strong, but I find that it has a very special, exotic and complex scent that changes over time.

Native to Mexico and Central America, today it's also cultivated in France, North and South of Africa, India, Hawaii, Vietnam and China. It's a nigh blooming flower that has to be harvested early in the morning when the buds are closed. Its scent will come the day after been cut and their intense odorant particles will be renewed after more than 48 hours giving a sensual fragrance to an entire room.

Used in India and Hawaii for centuries in floral crowns for wedding ceremonies, this flower was forbidden during Renaissance in Europe for young single women as it was believed the fragrance of tuberose will awake their passions giving them instant orgasms. The french writer Émile Zola wrote about the persistent scent of this carnal flower "When tuberoses decompose they have an human odor". Also in France, Madame de la Vallière, the mistress of the king Louis XIV, used to display vases of tuberose flowers on her room to show to the actual wife of the king that she wasn't pregnant, because its intense smell can be disturbing for women expecting a child.

It was really hard for me to find the perfect association of notes. This white flower can be quite intoxicating and has to be wisely mixed with other ingredients that will give to this noble note a brilliant and light facet avoiding cloying combinations.

After testing many brands, I found this beautiful gem, Do Son by Diptyque. It is the lightest and airiest version of this flower, just a delightful scent. It is an interpretation of green, fresh and relaxing tuberose. Created by the nose Fabrice Pellegrin, top notes are orange flower, rose and iris. Middle notes are tuberose and pink pepper and base notes are benzoin and musk.

Normally boys hate sophisticated floral scents, but this gorgeous perfume has definitely passed the test by the male gender of my entourage. It will give you a delicate young and feminine touch for day and night. I love to wear it all year long and specially during spring and summertime. The packaging is minimal and beautiful and has pretty details like a lithography of a Vietnamese landscape.

Do Son Eau de Toilette by Diptyque makes me feel intense, sensual and strong in a paradoxical light, fresh and serene way.

& Other Stories Natural Beauty Line

At the exact moment I glimpsed this new & Other Stories Beauty Line I instantly knew I was going to adore it. I have never been so excited to write a post as I am now, because this natural collection is just perfection. How do I start? The packaging is exquisite and enticing. The colours of the boxes that contain the precious products are gorgeous and elegant. Inside them you can contemplate beautiful old fashioned marbled paper. Aww!! This body and perfume collection has been made in France by the Paris Atelier, the french office of & Other Stories. Jérôme Epinette, the nose, has created a beautiful olfactory ballad through memories and experiences with natural ingredients like truffle, saffron, seaweed, honey and rose. An aromatic journey from the Breton Coast to Provence.

Sapling Body Lotion

I hate to apply Body Lotion, Cream or Oil to my body and I'm ashamed of it as I am a beauty confessed addict. Every year is in my New Year's resolutions list, to apply daily moisturizer to my body. The reason why I hate this step is because 1) I don't like to be sticky or greasy with my clothes on, 2) I don't have the patience to wait naked in the bathroom until the product absorbs. Well, Sapling Body Lotion has been a RE-VE-LA-TION for me. I repeatedly apply every day after my shower this scented gem to my body and I think that it has something to do with its scent. I'm completely fascinated and captivated by this perfume. It has an invigorating combination of fern extract of the verdants forests of France, walnut oil and cold-pressed plum butter. It is absorbed amazingly quick leaving a light touch of fragrance while providing hydration to your body. One of my best beauty discoveries of the year, so far.

Marigram Shower Gel

The scent of this Shower Gel is a reminiscence of mi childhood. This fresh fragrance is like a classic cologne that will make you feel fresh. Actually, there is also a perfume of this scent that I'm certainly going to buy for this Summer. This pure and clean smell, almost baby like, enliven my bath time with its extracts of red seaweed from the coasts of Brittany. A luxurious product that foams and glides across the skin while leaving a moisturizing finish and a revitalized feel to your skin.

Castes Hand Cream

This pretty cream that looks like a paint tube is also very nourishing for my always dry hands (98% of the ingredients are natural). It also smells incredible. The herbal fragrant foliage of Provence is captured in this softening balm enriched with honey and golden saffron. A luxurious blend of active ingredients grown in one of the most cherished regions of France. I have two of these, one on my bedside table and another one in my bag and I absolutely love this natural cream, it repairs the skin without leaving a greasy finish whilst perfuming my hands with its delicate floral scent.

I can't wait to try the entire line of this natural french collection. I highly recommend you to give it a shot if you fancy body care with heavenly scents.
